Tucson Audubon Society Volunteer DaySaturday, October 18, 2008Learn, connect, give back and restore with Tucson Audubon! Volunteers will get a brief presentation on Tucson Audubon's efforts to improve the water conservation, habitat value and urban heat island effects of landscaping. Then they will take part in landscaping work along the west side of the Historic YWCA where the Tucson Audubon office is located. Work will involve removal of some existing inappropriate vegetation, contouring the landscape to harvest rainwater, and planting native drought-tolerant vegetation that is useful to birds and other wildlife. The work itself will happen on the east side of 5th Avenue, south of University Blvd. This volunteer opportunity is made possible by TogetherGreen, a dynamic and innovative Audubon program funded by Toyota. It aims to provide inspiration, leadership and opportunities that inspire people everywhere to take action at home, in their communities and beyond to improve the health of our environment.
